PARK RIDGE — A Whole Foods Market proposed in Uptown Park Ridge will now accommodate more parking.
The Park Ridge Planning and Zoning Commission on July 24 approved an amendment to a site-plan review that will incorporate an additional piece of property south of 225 W. Touhy Ave. into the development.
The parcel will allow for expansion of the proposed parking lot, adding 93 additional spaces to the site for a total of 271, according to Planning and Zoning documents.
The original plan had been to keep the parcel of property vacant.
Bart Friedman, who submitted the request for a revised site plan as a representative for the property owner, could not be reached for comment on why the additional parking was requested or when Whole Foods plans to begin construction.
Demolition of the office buildings that once stood at 225 W. Touhy Ave. and 1 S. Washington Ave. is under way.
Park Ridge City Planner Jon Branham said no building permits for new construction have yet been issued.
