Mardi Gras gala benefits Avenues to Independence

It was laissez les bon temps rouler at the Avenues to Independence annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Love Affair Gala on Feb. 15.

The Mardi Gras-themed festivities kicked off with a beaded necklace toss to some 300 guests in the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center ballroom. During the evening, Avenues Foundation Board President Fred Sasser of Park Ridge was honored for his lifelong commitment to the cause. Funds raised from the dining-dancing event will help renovate and add more safety features to the restrooms at the Work Center in Wheeling, and help to provide jobs, homes and community living opportunities for adults with disabilities through the Park Ridge-based agency.
