Crime Briefs: Couple linked to stolen watches

RUSE ENTRY

Three watches were reported stolen from a home on the 1300 block of Good Avenue on March 4 after an 80-year-old man reportedly invited a man and a woman into his home. Police said the visitors had approached the home around 11:30 a.m., and the male visitor inquired about a car he heard was for sale. The resident reportedly showed the man an old car he had in the backyard, but police said it had never been advertised for sale. While discussing the vehicle inside the home, the woman reportedly left the room, causing the resident to become a suspicious and asking both visitors to leave, police said. The resident later discovered the watches missing from a drawer. The couple were seen driving a black minivan, police said.

BURGLARY

On the afternoon of March 2, an attempt was made to burglarize a home on the first block of Third Street. A door window was damaged and partially open, but it did not appear anyone had entered the residence, police said.

On March 4, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., a door was pried open at a home on the 1100 block of Cleveland Avenue. Bedrooms were ransacked, but it was not known at the time of the report if anything was taken.
