Park Ridge Police say a man who robbed a TCF Bank branch with a hammer Monday morning visited three other banks in the city prior to the robbery, but did not rob them.

At the request of the Chicago FBI, police are not identifying the three banks nor sharing any details about what he was seen doing at the locations, said Park Ridge Deputy Chief Lou Jogmen.

The man, wearing a white golf cap, white T-shirt and sunglasses, stole an undisclosed amount of money from the TCF Bank branch at 1 W. Devon Ave. during the robbery which occurred at 9:15 a.m., Aug. 5.

A surveillance image provided by the FBI shows the man holding a hammer in one hand and a brown backpack in the other while standing before the bank counter.

FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said the robber did not make any verbal threats while holding the hammer. He was last seen leaving the area in a black Ford Mustang, she said.

Anyone recognizing the suspect is asked to call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
