A 17-year-old Park Ridge girl was issued three traffic tickets after she allegedly drove a van over a residential lawn and then left the scene.
Park Ridge Police said a witness reported seeing a 2003 Chevy Express about 5:45 p.m. Jan. 31 driving south on Western Avenue strike light pole at Lois Avenue.
The van then reportedly drove across a parkway, a sidewalk and the lawn of the witness, who told police the vehicle brushed her leg as it passed by. After the van came to a stop the driver and one of the van’s two passengers allegedly left the scene on foot.
According to police the driver was found at a park one block from the accident scene. She reportedly told police she left the scene of the crash because she was frightened. Police said the driver did not show any signs of intoxication.
All three occupants of the vehicle reportedly told police that they felt the van slide before it left the roadway and ended up on the resident’s lawn.
