Park Ridge police have arrested a man they say was involved in stealing copper downspouts last month from a school and train station.
Joey Red, 23, of the 7200 block of North Ottawa Avenue, Chicago, was charged May 11 with two counts of theft, accused of stealing downspouts from the Metra station at Busse Highway and Dee Road and from the south side of St. Paul of the Cross School, 140 S. Northwest Highway. Both thefts were reported in early-April.
Deputy Police Chief Lou Jogmen said investigators identified Red as a suspect in the thefts after interviewing another man who was in Chicago Police Department custody for allegedly committing a similar crime.
Red’s bond was set at $1,000 and he has a June 13 court date.
