An assistant principal has been selected for two Park Ridge-Niles District 64 elementary schools.

The Board of Education on June 25 confirmed the appointment of Kelly Tess as assistant principal of Carpenter and Franklin schools in Park Ridge.

For the past four years Tess has been a teacher in West Northfield School District 31 in Northbrook.

Most recently she taught sixth-grade humanities at Field Middle School and was previously a fourth-grade teacher at Winkelman Elementary School.

According to District 64, Tess was involved in implementing a new Safe and Civil Schools behavior initiative and launching an instructional program where each student received a technology device.

Before joining District 31, Tess taught fourth-grade for several years outside Illinois.

Tess received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and holds master’s degrees from DePaul University and Concordia University.

The assistant principal position to be shared between Carpenter and Franklin schools was approved by the Board of Education earlier this year.
