Avenues to Independence announces new-member appointments

PARK RIDGE — At the Board of Directors meeting on July 18 the appointments of three new directors were confirmed for three year terms, effective July 1, according to a news release.
“Avenues is honored to welcome new board members Jeanne Doheny, Clark Gapen, and Tom Garcea,” the release stated. “Each brings their individual talents and passion for the organization, and will serve Avenues well.”
Doheny, a Park Ridge resident, has co-chaired the Irish Fest for the past two years, and is the mother of program participant Kelly Doheny, who volunteers at Avenues Thrift Shoppe. Jeanne is an elementary school teacher at Roosevelt School in Park Ridge.
Clark Gapen has participated in several Avenues events throughout the years, but wanted to take a more active role in the organization, the release stated. Gapen, who has a family member in the program, resides in Winnetka and is a First Vice President at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
Tom Garcea has been very supportive of Avenues for many years and expressed a desire to serve in a larger capacity, the release stated. Garcea, a Park Ridge resident, is owner of RG Construction.
Avenues to Independence is a non-profit organization providing services for adults with intellectual, physical and developmental disabilities.
