Updated: August 27, 2012 10:42AM

PARK RIDGE — The Park Ridge Recreation and Park District will conduct a public meeting on Wednesday, July 25 in order for citizens to provide input on a proposal by the Park District to purchase a portion of the Park Ridge Youth Campus property.

The meeting will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Youth Campus, 733 N. Prospect Ave.

Park District representatives are expected to give a brief overview of the proposed preliminary plans for the land, uses of existing buildings for programs and the next steps in the process.

The Park Board of Commissioners is considering a referendum that would ask voters if bonds should be issued and taxes raised in order for the Park District to purchase 6.85 acres of the property. A private developer is interested in purchasing the remaining southern portion of the land which is just over four acres.

Under a tentative agreement with the Youth Campus, the Park District would pay $3.86 million for its portion of the property, said Gayle Mountcastle, the Park District’s executive director.

The Park District is accepting comments at comment@prparks.org.
