PARK RIDGE — Park Ridge firefighters will be hitting the streets for the next three Fridays to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Fire Department’s “Fill the Boot” campaign will take place on Aug. 17, Aug. 24 and Aug. 31.

Firefighters will be seeking donations between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at the intersections of Devon and Cumberland avenues, and Greenwood Avenue and Oakton Street.

This year marks the Park Ridge Fire Department’s first year of filling the boot for MDA.

Last year firefighters nationwide raised more than $24 million for MDA research, equipment, programs, camps and more, according to the organization.

In Park Ridge there are 15 families benefiting directly from MDA, the organization said.
