PARK RIDGE — The Center of Concern in Park Ridge is conducting a pledge drive through Sept. 15 with a promise to match the first $20,000 in donations made.

“Since funding has been reduced or eliminated from many governmental agencies, including Park Ridge, this fundraising effort is critical to our operation in the future,” said Kathy Rolsing, a member of the Center of Concern’s Board of Directors.

The matching funds will be made available through a group of supporters and the Board of Directors, the center said.

The Center of Concern provides various types of assistance to citizens in need in Park Ridge and surrounding areas. Included are food vouchers, emergency payment of utility bills, rent payments and temporary shelter.

The center also focuses on homelessness prevention, transitional housing and home-sharing opportunities for seniors. In addition, volunteers assist citizens with free professional services like preparation of tax returns, drafting of a will, budgeting assistance, financial planning and help with Medicare paperwork.

Donations can be made to The Center of Concern, 1580 N. Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
