Pay raises approved for nonunion workers
Nonunion city of Park Ridge employees are receiving a pay raise.
The City Council on Sept. 17 overruled by a vote of 5-2 a mayoral veto of 1 and 2 percent raises to a group of 43 nonunion, non-library employees. The amount of the raises will be based on the employees’ performance ratings.
This was Mayor David Schmidt’s second veto of nonunion employee raises since April. The first veto was sustained by the council, but the matter was later reconsidered by aldermen.
Fifth Ward Alderman Dan Knight and 6th Ward Alderman Marc Mazzuca voted to sustain Schmidt’s veto on Sept. 17.
The raises will add another $48,101 expense to the city on top of regular salaries.
