MAINE TOWNSHIP — Eric Leys, a member of the Maine Township High School District 207 Board of Education for the last 12 years, will seek election to a two-year term on the board in April.

Leys simultaneously filed for the unexpired two-year term and a four-year term on the board, but last week withdrew his candidacy for the four-year term.

Leys will be running unopposed for the two-year term, a seat that was held by Joann Braam until her resignation in the fall.

Also withdrawing from the race for the two-year term was Mary Childers and Carla Owen. Both will run for election for four-year terms.

There are four open four-year seats on the Board of Education and seven candidates looking to be elected. The other candidates include incumbents Eldon Burk and Margaret McGrath and newcomers Jin Lee, Jeffrey Spero and Sean Story.~.
