PARK RIDGE — The city of Park Ridge recently welcomed three new firefighter/paramedics to the Fire Department.
They include Jesse McFarlin of Elk Grove Village, Jeff Finn of Cary, and Tony Browning of Bolingbrook.
McFarlin, 27, ranked first on the Fire Department’s candidate eligibility list. He grew up in Elk Grove and was a member of the U.S. Air Force. His interest in firefighting goes back to his great-grandfathers who served with the Chicago Fire Department.
Finn, 28, has worked for the fire department in his hometown of Cary and always wanted to become a firefighter.
“I am happy to land my dream job in Park Ridge,” he said.
Browning, 30, worked part-time for the Darien-Woodridge Fire District, but has dreamed of a full-time job as a firefighter since 2009.
“I am now lucky enough to have a full-time spot with the Park Ridge Fire Department,” he said.
The new hires, who attended a swearing-in ceremony at City Hall in late November, fill vacancies that have existed within the department for over one year.
