Several employees of a Park Ridge-based company weren’t able to pick up their paychecks earlier this month after a thief helped himself to the checks.
According to Park Ridge police, nine envelopes, each containing a payroll check, were stolen the morning of Dec. 1 after they were taped to an office-suite window inside a building on the 1400 block of Higgins Road.
Surveillance video reportedly showed a 30- to 35-year-old man wearing a dark jacket and white cap removing the envelopes from the window just after 5 a.m.
Park Ridge Police Lt. Duane Mellema said it did not appear that attempts to cash the checks had been made.
