The Park Ridge City Council is expected to hear a presentation Jan. 23 outlining ideas for rehabbing the Park Ridge Police Station.
The presentation is scheduled to take place during the City Council’s Committee of the Whole meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. and take place at Park Ridge City Hall, 505 Butler Place.
Architect Ralph Cincinelli, a member of the Police Chief’s Advisory Task Force, developed the $1.1-million renovation and construction plan, which has been reviewed during the past several months by the Task Force. The presentation is expected to focus on risk factors that exist within the current station.
Fifth Ward Alderman Dan Knight said he reviewed the plan with Cincinelli last weekend. He called the report “impressive.”
“It addresses a lot of issues that exist at the police station, but, as I told (Cincinelli), we need to be creative about how we’re going to pay for them,” Knight said.
Several earlier proposals to build an addition onto the existing Police Station at 200 S. Vine Ave. and to construct an entirely new facility failed to advance beyond the discussion stage. Voters in 2008 rejected two advisory referendums asking if a new, $16.5-million police station should be constructed.
