Frosted windshield blamed in Park Ridge light-post crash

A man told Park Ridge Police he was trying to defrost ice from his car’s windows when he drove into a light pole at the intersection of Oakton Street and Busse Highway.

According to police the 75-year-old Park Ridge resident said he was driving east on Busse when he noticed ice on his windows.

As he attempted to turn on his car’s defroster, his 2003 Lincoln Town Car reportedly drove off the road and into the light pole at the southeast corner of Oakton and Busse.

The accident report did not indicate if ice or frost had accumulated on the windshield and contributed to the crash.

No injuries were reported and the accident report did not indicate if tickets were issued.
