Park Ridge police said a Chicago man who admitted to falling asleep while driving caused a three-car accident the afternoon of Jan. 4.
According to the accident report the 26-year-old man was driving east on Dempster Street approaching Greenwood Avenue when his 1996 Nissan Maxima rear-ended a 1999 Honda Civic that was stopped in traffic.
The Honda was pushed into the back of a 2011 Lexus before leaving the roadway, police said.
The driver who allegedly caused the accident reportedly told police he had fallen asleep because he was working nights and had little rest.
He was issued two citations, according to the accident report.
