Park Ridge Police Blotter for May 17, 2012

The following incidents were listed in the weekly bulletin prepared by the Park Ridge Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

BURGLARY

A lawn mower was stolen the morning of May 4 from an open garage on the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue.

A laptop was stolen between May 4 and May 7 from a locked computer lab at Mary, Seat of Wisdom School, 1352 S. Cumberland Ave.

Two bicycles were stolen overnight between May 8 and May 9 from a garage on the 300 block of West Cuttriss Street.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A GPS device was stolen overnight between May 3 and May 4 from an unlocked vehicle on the 2200 block of West Woodland Avenue.

A cellular phone and a key fob were reported stolen at 4:40 a.m. May 4 from a vehicle parked on the 500 block of North Wisner Street.

A GPS device and a remote-control boat were stolen overnight between May 8 and May 9 from an unlocked vehicle parked inside an unlocked garage on the 400 block of North Washington Avenue.

THEFT

Wojciech Wargacki, 35, of the 4300 block of North Ashland Avenue, Chicago, was charged with unlawful use of a credit card May 9. According to police Wargacki purchased $200 worth of groceries from Trader Joe’s, 190 N. Northwest Highway, using a woman’s credit card without her permission. Police identified Wargacki because he reportedly used his own credit card as well as the woman’s credit card to make the purchases, police said. He has a July 22 court date.

A circuit breaker was reported stolen May 3 from a residence on the 800 block of North Hamiln Avenue.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen between May 5 and May 7 from two vending machines at Hinkley Park, at Busse Highway and Morris Street.

An unlocked 2010 Nissan Altima was stolen between 2:30 p.m. and 3:55 p.m. May 6 from the 100 block of North Northwest Highway.

Two planters containing roses and cacti were stolen between May 6 and May 7 from the common area of an apartment complex on the 1200 block of Carol Street.

A lock was cut and a bicycle stolen the evening of May 9 from a sidewalk on the 700 block of Devon Avenue.

An undisclosed number of dollar bills were stolen May 10 from a vending machine at a gas station on the 1200 block of Touhy Avenue.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Graffiti was spray-painted between April 30 and May 3 on a fence behind Mr. K’s Garden and Material Center, 1440 W. Higgins Road. The graffiti did not appear to be gang-related, police said.

RESISTING

Daniel Pennington, 20, of the 1100 block of South Crescent Avenue, Park Ridge, was charged with resisting a police officer May 12. According to police an officer attempted to conduct a pat-down search of Pennington after the officer reportedly detected an odor of marijuana on the man, who was seen just after midnight walking in the area of Crescent and Arthur Street. Pennington allegedly ignored the officer’s commands, and was handcuffed and taken into custody, police said. Bond was set at $1,000. He has a June 27 court date.
