Park Ridge Police Blotter for the week of May 24, 2012

The following incidents were listed in the weekly bulletin prepared by the Park Ridge Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

RECKLESS DRIVING

Gennaro Salemme, 19, of the 1900 block of South Courtland Avenue, Park Ridge, was charged with reckless driving and speeding the night of May 16. According to police Salemme was clocked on radar traveling at 107 mph in a 35 mph speed zone on eastbound Devon Avenue near Cumberland. Bond was set at $2,000. He has a July 3 court date.

BURGLARY TO
VEHICLE

A vehicle was burglarized between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 12 while parked in an alley behind the 700 block of Higgins Road. A window was broken to gain entry, but nothing was reported stolen.

A briefcase containing an iPad, book, papers and a chauffeur’s license was stolen between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. May 16 from a vehicle parked in a lot on the 800 block of Higgins Road. A window was broken to gain entry.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone kicked and dented the rear passenger-side door of a vehicle parked overnight between May 12 and May 13 on the 1600 block of Walnut Street.

Graffiti was reported May 14 at the Hinkley Skate Park, 283 Busse Highway. Paint was used to write on the underside of the skate park’s ramp, a bench and on the men’s restroom walls.

THEFT

A bicycle was stolen from a bike rack May 12 on the first block of South Prospect Avenue. The theft occurred between 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

An unsecured bicycle was stolen May 14 between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. from outside Field School, 707 N. Wisner St.
