Park Ridge Police Blotter for the week of Aug. 30, 2012

The following incidents were listed in the weekly bulletin prepared by the Park Ridge Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A 17-year-old boy from Niles and a 17-year-old boy from unincorporated Maine Township were each charged with disorderly conduct Aug. 22. According to police the boys became involved in a physical altercation in a hallway at Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster St. The 17-year-old Maine Township boy was also charged with battery after he allegedly punched a male staff member in the face as the man attempted to break up the fight, police said. Both were released on their own recognizance and assigned a Sept. 24 court date.

BURGLARY

A home on the 1600 block of Church Street was burglarized between Aug. 17 and Aug. 19. Police said entry was gained through a window and jewelry, a video-game system, an undisclosed number of TVs and unspecified electronics equipment were among the items stolen.

Electrical supplies were stolen overnight between Aug. 17 and Aug. 18 from residences under construction on the 300 block of South Northwest Highway.

An unspecified number of iPhones, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen between 9 a.m. and 8:40 p.m. Aug. 20 from an apartment on the 1400 block of Touhy Avenue.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Two driveways and one sidewalk were spray-painted overnight between Aug. 17 and Aug. 18 on the 900 block of Sylviawood Avenue. The wall of the Metra pedestrian underpass near Summit and Touhy avenues was also spray-painted between Aug. 12 and Aug. 20.

A BB gun was shot at a townhouse on the 300 block of South Northwest Highway between Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, damaging some windows.

THEFT

A wallet was stolen from a purse Aug. 17 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, 1775 W. Dempster St. Unsuccessful attempts were made to use a debit card inside the wallet.

SPEEDING

Gautam Agarwal, 28, of the 5400 block of East River Road, Chicago, was charged with speeding in excess of 40 mph over the speed limit at 1:15 a.m. Aug. 22. Police said Agarwal was clocked traveling 80 mph in a 35-mph speed zone on southbound Dee Road near Devon Avenue. Bond was set at $2,000. He has an Oct. 9 court date.

DUI

Grzegorz Podsada, 33, of the 6800 block of West Montrose, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, following too closely and improper turning on Aug. 16. He was taken into custody at 4:47 p.m. on the 700 block of North Greenwood Avenue. Bond was set at $1,000. He has an Aug. 31 court date.

Christopher Caldwell, 25, of the 1800 block of West 108th Place, Chicago, was charged Aug. 19 with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, no valid insurance and improper parking on a roadway. He was taken into custody at 12:42 a.m. at Higgins Road and Brophy Avenue. Bond was set at $1,000. He has a Sept. 7 court date.
