Early Childhood
Education
Oakton’s Early Childhood Education Center has limited openings for summer and the 2012-13 school year.
The licensed and accredited ECE Centers offer half-day and full-day programs for children ages 2 to 5. Experienced teachers provide high-quality care and education with an innovative curriculum.

Radiologic technician seminar
The Radiologic Technician seminar on May 23 showcases the college’s degree and certificate programs in this health career program and is scheduled at 2 p.m. at Oakton’s Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave. (Room C110). Faculty will be on hand to discuss course requirements and industry trends.

Spring into adult education classes offered through the Oakton Alliance for Lifelong Learning.
Reiki 2 Certification (PSY B73-004) – Continue to tap into the healing energy of the universe to re-establish balance and harmony so that the body’s natural ability to heal itself is activated. Course meets 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. May 20 at Oakton’s Skokie campus 7701 N. Lincoln Ave. Course fee is $150.
Tune up Your Business Voice: Turn on Your Customers (COM S25-02) – This course is for anyone who wants to develop an effective speaking voice that will result in greater customer satisfaction. Learn how to maximize speaking style to influence people in a positive manner. Boost self-confidence and raise profits by “tuning up” the way you speak. Session meets 6:30-9:30 p.m. May 23 at Oakton’s Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Course fee is $50.

Cinema courses
Discover films focusing on Native Americans and the Wild West by enrolling in new courses offered by the Emeritus Program at Oakton.
We Are Still Here: Contemporary Native American Filmmakers (HUM E81-91) – Modern Native American filmmakers have created movies highlighting both traditional and contemporary Native cultures. Examine films that focus on these issues, including “A Thousand Roads,” “Smoke Signals,” “Skin Walkers,” “Pow Wow Highway,” “Naturally Native,” and “We Are Still Here.” Six-week course meets 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Mondays, starting June 4. Course fee is $96.
The Wild, Wild West in Cinema: Eight Magnificent Westerns (HUM S76-91) – Delve into one of the most enduring film genres. Explore interpretations of the “frontier” that focus on the role of women, the family, and hero. Lineup includes: “My Darling Clementine” (1946), “High Noon” (1952), “Shane” (1953), “Johnny Guitar” (1954), “Rio Bravo” (1959), “Lonely Are the Brave” (1962), “Once Upon a Time in the West” (1968), “McCabe and Mrs. Miller” (1971), “Unforgiven” (1992), and “Brokeback Mountain” (2005). Eight-week course meets 1-4:15 p.m., Mondays, starting June 4. Course fee is $156.
All registrants will be charged an $8 non-refundable processing fee at the time of registration. However, students who register online will only be charged once per semester for an unlimited number of courses. Those registering in person, by mail, or fax will be charged an $8 fee with each registration form.
