Benedictine University student Joseph Lagattuta, of Park Ridge, was one of 12 Benedictine students who traveled to Cuba this spring. The students visited the cities of Havana, Santa Clara and Sancti Spiritus, where they toured small urban organic farms and large-scale agriculture operations which utilize sustainable farming practices without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. Students also visited medical clinics and schools, neighborhoods, eco-villages, the University of Santa Clara and a center for sociological research, where they met with students, researchers, artists, doctors and restaurant chefs.

Park Ridge students graduating from Illinois State University (Family and Consumer Sciences) include Kelsey Kronborg-Mogil, who received the top senior award/Interior Design) Alysse Mancuso, top senior award/Department of Teacher Education; and Lauren Sims, who received a recognition for a design project.

The following Park Ridge students made the spring-semester dean’s list at Illinois Wesleyan University: Lauren Alpert, Joe Blum, Katie Brosnan, Brittany Christie, Kim Conway, Caitlin Eskew, Kristy Lazicki, Chris Miller, Colleen O’Keefe, Danielle Owerko and Karen Solari.

Park Ridge students Ann Merrell and William Pierce graduated with bachelors degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Ann Merrell and William Pierce, both of Park Ridge, were named to the spring-semester dean’s list at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Stephanie Tedesco, of Park Ridge, a student at the College of Arts and Sciences, Creighton University, was recognized on the spring-term dean’s list at Creighton University.

Lisa Horan, of Park Ridge, was included on the spring-semester dean’s list at Beloit College.

Jessica Wayer, of Park Ridge, received a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Earning bachelors degrees from Western Illinois University were Park Ridge students Philip L. Loughnane (emergency management), Kenneth A. Petrowski (supply chain management), Theodore E. Smart (general studies) and Ashton M. Zobens (art).

Christopher Heck, of Park Ridge, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from Gonzaga University.

Sophia L. Howard, of Park Ridge, has been named to the current dean’s list at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Kellyn Jackson, of Park Ridge, earned a bachelor’s degree, graduating magna cum laude with honor in dance, at Skidmore College. In addition, she was elected to membership in the Skidmore Chapter of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology and earned academic recognition for work completed during the spring semester.

Matthew R. Hamielec, of Park Ridge, was awarded the Salvatore Biardo Omicron Scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year from the Psi Upsilon Foundation. A student at the University of Illinois, he is majoring in accounting and history.
