Local student visits Spanish village

Lillian “Lily” Brown participated in the Concordia Language Villages program by attending El Lago del Bosque, the Spanish Language Village located in Bemidji, Minn. Brown is the daughter of Amy and Rob Brown, of Park Ridge.

At El Lago del Bosque, the Spanish Language Village, Brown experienced a simulated visit to another country. She was issued a passport, exchanged currency and adopted a new name. By interacting with staff from all over the world, Brown also learned about the many opportunities available to those who speak more than one language. She was immersed in the culture through learning groups, authentic foods, holiday celebrations, re-enactments of historic events, songs, dances, crafts, games and everyday conversations. ~.
